Plainfield High School Hosts DWD Event
More than 60 Industry, Education and Community Leaders Participate
The Department of Workforce Development in partnership with Plainfield High School hosted a roundtable discussion of Work-Based Learning Tuesday, March 13th. The morning-long event included presentations by the DWD, Plainfield High School's Counseling department, the Plainfield Chamber of Commerce and Kelley & Associates.
Several companies from both of Plainfield's Economic Improvement Districts participated with EID Board members also on hand for the morning.
Two panel discussions featuring representatives from the community of Batesville, Indiana Department of Labor, Associated Builders & Contractors, Gaylor Electric and Jackson-McCormick Insurance presented success stories of communities benefitting from strong School/Community/Industry partnerships. Common myths and concerns regarding teenagers in the workplace were addressed and productive strategies for meaningful internship opportunities were shared.
"Great material and the panel discussions were fantastic. It is refreshing to see the educators really getting involved in the conversation."
~Mark Wittenauer, Human Resource Manager for DHL Supply Chain
